kwiecień 1, 2025How to perform a spray application?
To ensure effective waterproofing, the following application steps must be followed:
Product preparation and application:

1. Substrate Preparation
The substrate must be load-bearing, clean, and dry (or slightly damp), free of grease, dust, and other contaminants. Any irregularities and voids should be repaired beforehand using appropriate mortars.
If the surface is absorbent, it should be primed with a product such as BLOCK B786 TERRA SLIM (diluted 1:1) or GRIP A500 MULTI.
2. Mixing the Compound
Each product must be mixed according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Gradually add the powder component into the liquid component and mix thoroughly with a low-speed mixer until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.
3. Spray Application
Apply the waterproofing compound evenly with a spray unit, maintaining the recommended layer thickness specified by the manufacturer. If needed, apply in multiple coats.
Optional Reinforcement with Mesh
In areas subject to high stress or on uneven surfaces, it is recommended to embed fiberglass mesh in the first layer of waterproofing.
Detail Sealing
Corners, pipe penetrations, and expansion joints should be sealed using waterproofing tapes, such as BOSTIK SANITARY BAND EXTRA.
4. Application of the Second Layer
If two layers are required, apply the second layer only after the first has completely dried (typically after 4–6 hours or as specified in the product instructions).
5. Protection and Cleaning
Protect the coating from rain and direct sunlight until it is completely dry.
Clean tools with water immediately after use.

BLOCK B525 TERRA 2K – Two-Component Bitumen Coating with Fibres
BLOCK B525 TERRA 2K is a solvent-free, two-component waterproofing compound based on a bitumen emulsion reinforced with fibres. After curing, it forms a durable and flexible waterproof coating that is resistant to groundwater and rainfall. The addition of fibres improves mechanical resistance and enhances the product’s ability to bridge cracks. It can be applied using a trowel, brush, or spray, allowing for optimal adaptation to specific construction conditions.
Features:
-
Solvent-free bitumen emulsion
-
Fibre-reinforced for increased durability
-
Flexible – bridges cracks over 2 mm wide
-
Waterproof – resistant to groundwater and atmospheric moisture
-
Pressure-resistant – suitable for demanding applications
Applications:
-
Waterproofing foundations, basements, foundation slabs, retaining walls, underground garages, and other ground-contact elements (such as balconies and terraces)
-
Suitable for positive and negative-side waterproofing
-
In insulation systems, it can be used in combination with EPS or XPS boards, for applications up to 3 meters deep
-
Resists pressurized water up to 7.5 meters water column
BLOCK B525 TERRA 2K is an ideal solution for demanding ground-level and underground waterproofing projects where flexibility, durability, and versatility of application are essential.

1. What thickness should the waterproofing layer be?
Each product has a specified minimum and maximum application thickness. Always check the product’s technical data sheet before use. In general, the wet layer should be between 1 and 5 mm, depending on the type of waterproofing. Applying at least two coats is recommended to ensure complete protection.
2. How long does waterproofing take to dry?
Drying time depends on ambient temperature and humidity. Fast-curing products like BLOCK X911 may be rain-resistant after just 2 hours, while full curing of some materials can take up to 16 hours. Always refer to the product’s technical data sheet.
3. How should the substrate be prepared before applying waterproofing?
The substrate must be load-bearing, clean, and dry or slightly damp. Porous surfaces require priming with a suitable product such as BLOCK B786 TERRA SLIM (diluted) or GRIP A500 MULTI. Any uneven areas or voids should be repaired using cement-based mortar.
4. What are the recommendations for application in low temperatures?
The minimum application temperature for most Bostik products is +5°C. Avoid application during frost or when freezing temperatures are expected.
5. How can a damaged waterproofing layer be repaired?
If the waterproofing layer is damaged, clean the affected area thoroughly and apply an additional layer of the product. In some cases, re-priming may be necessary before reapplication.
6. How much material is needed per 1 m² of surface?
Consumption depends on the type of product and the required layer thickness. Refer to the technical data sheet or use our coverage calculator for accurate estimates.
7. What personal protective equipment (PPE) should be used during application?
Always wear protective gloves, goggles, and a dust mask, especially when handling or mixing cement-based products. Ensure adequate ventilation when working indoors.
