Types of Roofs<\/strong><\/h1>\n

A roof<\/strong> is a three-dimensional structure<\/strong> whose base is a polygon<\/strong> defined by the outline of the external walls<\/strong> of a building.<\/p>\n

      Gable Roof<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      A gable roof<\/strong>, also called a pitched roof<\/strong>, is one of the most popular roof types<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      • Consists of two sloping rectangular planes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      • The roof slopes meet at the ridge<\/strong>, running parallel to the building's width<\/strong>.<\/li>\n

        Hip Roof<\/strong><\/h3>\n

        • Two elongated trapezoidal slopes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n

          Shed Roof<\/strong><\/h3>\n

            Mansard Roof<\/strong><\/h3>\n

            • Two roof sections<\/strong>\u2014a steep lower slope<\/strong> and a gentler upper slope<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
            • Creates additional attic space<\/strong>, reducing low-ceiling areas<\/strong>.<\/li>\n

              Jerkinhead Roof<\/strong><\/h3>\n

              A jerkinhead roof<\/strong> is a variation of a gable roof<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

              • The upper corners of the gable ends<\/strong> are cut off<\/strong> with small slopes, called jerkinheads<\/strong>.<\/li>\n

                            Multi-Gable Roof<\/strong><\/h3>\n
