While their design has evolved over the centuries<\/strong>, they remain an essential tool in daily life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n A well is a man-made, drilled, or excavated hole<\/strong> that reaches the water-bearing level<\/strong>. It is typically constructed using reinforced concrete rings stacked on top of each other<\/strong>. These rings are often installed using standard cement mortar<\/strong>, without proper waterproofing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n However, fluctuating temperatures<\/strong> and, most importantly, the harmful effects of salts in water<\/strong> can damage the connections between rings<\/strong>. This deterioration can result in:<\/p>\n It\u2019s important to note that replacing damaged rings is far more expensive and labor-intensive<\/strong> than applying proper waterproofing<\/strong> during the initial construction phase. This method ensures that the sealing mortar is locked in place<\/strong>, preventing it from being pushed out of the joint. Simply widening the joint without this shaping would not provide a secure seal.<\/p>\n Use one of the following sealing mortars:<\/p>\n After sealing the chiseled joint, a waterproofing band<\/strong> should be applied over the sealed area using a PZH-certified sealing slurry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Properly executed sealing significantly extends the lifespan of a well<\/strong>.
