What Is Screed?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If you're wondering, what is screed?<\/em>\u2014you're not alone. The term is not widely known but refers to floor underlayment<\/strong>. Screed is nothing more than a substrate layer<\/strong> applied on ceilings or concrete slabs<\/strong>. It is made from a mixture that hardens over time<\/strong>, forming a dense base layer<\/strong> for flooring or carpet installation.<\/p>\n

    Characteristics of Anhydrite Screed<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    One of the most commonly chosen screed types<\/strong> is anhydrite screed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    • Minimal shrinkage<\/strong> after drying, reducing the risk of cracks.<\/li>\n
    • No need for additional reinforcement<\/strong>, making installation easier.<\/li>\n
    • No need for expansion joints<\/strong>, unlike some other types of screeds.<\/li>\n
    • No surface deformations<\/strong>, ensuring long-term stability.<\/li>\n
    • Can be walked on after just 24 hours<\/strong>, speeding up construction work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Anhydrite screed has a relatively thin consistency<\/strong>, which naturally forms a level surface<\/strong>, eliminating the need for additional leveling. It is suitable for underfloor heating<\/strong>, ensuring optimal heat distribution<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      However, it should not be used in high-moisture areas<\/strong> or outdoors, as it does not tolerate prolonged exposure to water<\/strong>. Another drawback<\/strong> is its relatively high cost<\/strong> compared to other screed types.<\/p>\n
